Acknowledgments are due to the following publications, in which many of these poems first appeared: the Age, the Australian, Meanjin Quarterly, Poetry Australia, Poetry Magazine, Quadrant, Spirit, the Sydney Morning Herald, Westerly, the Yale Literary Magazine. Eight of the poems were published by Jacaranda Press in Twelve Poets, 1950–1970. Several have been broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Commission. “Blood Is the Water” won the Farmer's Poetry Prize in 1969.
