Preface
The Air Dolphin Brigade is the central, elusive piece of evidence in the crime at the heart of Thursday's Fictions, an epic poem, play and dance libretto which Allen also wrote.
Thursday, the central character in Thursday's Fictions, is an eternity criminal who discovers that she is going to be reincarnated several more times. She tries to make sure, at the end of each lifetime (each of which lasts only one day), that her poems will be buried with her so that she can dig them up and keep writing in the next life. In this way she bends the spirit, if not exactly the letter, of eternal law. She and her poems, the collection called The Air Dolphin Brigade, are chased through their week long journey by Saturday (aka Mrs Fairchild), an eternity cop. In the end, neither Thursday or Saturday end up holding the poems. It is you, the reader and the audience, who is left with the evidence and must weigh its value, uncover its secrets and decide on the question of the authors's eternal life.
